I usually travel by QANTAS to ZA, Security arrangements for transport of fireams is usually no problem. Cost of travel is high. Traveling cattle class is painful and the baggage allowance hopeless. I have inquired as to the possibility of traveling by Airmauritius, Half the price of Qantas Business Class. Brand new aircraft. Service excellent. I went to Madagascar by Airmauritius 2 months ago. No complaints. The downside is atleast a night in Mauritius there and back. Believe me it is no downside, Mauritius is a great place to chill out and the spiced rum is magnificent. I am leaving for the Dark Continent by Airmauritius on Oct 10th. Security on firearms is no problem as they are held at the Airport by Mauritian Customs. I would suggest that anyone who is contemplating a Hunting trip to Za,contacts the Mauritian High Commissioner in Canberra and Airmauritius. I usually organise a hunting trip to ZA or Zim every two years, I am to old to be hassled by security and bloody paper pushers and I get the feeling that Airmauritious is keen to get an old hunters business. Good bit of advice to remember, Mdhala. Thanks. The last time we flew was Air Paradise to Bali and it was a very, VERY long trip.

Good idea if it works. I got badly burned by Qantas and SAA on excess baggage this trip from which I have just got back from. I am definitely looking for alternatives in the future.
