Hello mates from the Southern Hemisphere! First, let me apologize upfront about my ignorance of Queensland in general. All that I have learned has been from geography class, National Geographic, the Discovery Channel, and most notably, here on the AR forum! I have an often asked question for all of you, but one I couldn't find a specific condensed answer to by doing a search. As luck would have it, my hospital has a program/affiliation with the University of Queensland's medical school. I have an opportunity to spend a month or two working there sometime over the next 3 years. Outside of clinical duties (which I plan to keep to a bare minimum, ie. "research"), I want to HUNT!! And FISH... and camp... and do whatever else I can do while I'm there. Sooooo... If you had a perfect month (or two) to spend in Queensland, what would you choose to do and when would you do it? P.S. As a side, my wife is an ER doc and will most likely be there "working" with me too. We both scuba dive if you have any suggestions in that area as well.

Where will you living and working from mate? ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

I have to admit that this is all a bit premature and I don't have many details, but my best opportunities would be based out of Brisbane. As for timing, I'd like to make the rain dance as close to the rain as possible.

Mate depends on what time of year you will be here, but you should be able to hunt most of what TP suggested all year round. Plenty of good fishing handy to Brisbane to. Let us know when your coming over and we will be able to line you up with somethin I'm sure

I sure like the sound of all this! Thanks for helping me get my feet wet as I begin to research the possibilities. What is the best month(s) for me to visit if hunting is my primary goal? If any of you were to visit me, for example, I would recommend October through December for good hunting. Thanks again for the suggestions!

You've missed the roar for the reds this year. But with access to private property you can hunt at any time. If you want to do a guided hunt your better off talking to the guide. Drop me a line when you have more info and I'll see if I can take you out for a fish down the gold coast area, I may even be able to take you out to a mates place for a shot at some foxes and hares. I'm going out there on Sunday to do have a look see. ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" If you want to chase Red Stags and Fallow Bucks then late March thru April is when the rut is usually on ! The Rusa rut later - they're just ending around my place and were in full croak a couple of weeks ago. So if stalking deer is your want then i would head out here from mid march onwards. Bunnies, Hares, pigs and goats are always on the menu anytime. If you check out the ADA or RIDGE group web sites you will find a range of info about how you can get stalking without having to hire professional guides. Both organisations can help you out. I'd be happy to take you out chasing Red Stags and Fallow so drop me a PM once you have some dates firmed up.

Sounds great!! Now that I have a time frame, I think the best bet will be March-April 2012. It's a little too soon to get everything setup for 2011. I'm looking forward to all the planning... that's when I learn a lot about a place. And Queensland looks pretty interesting to me! Thanks again for all of your suggestions and generous offers. I will keep you posted on my progress.
