Just spoke to Errol Mason today & his book on Sambar Hunting is at the printer's and should be available just before Christmas. I went on a Sambar Shikar with Errol this year & although we missed out on a Stag we got a nice hind as consolation prize on the last day.

For those who wish to hunt Sambar I can throughly recommend Errol. He always gives 110% & the education you get on sambar habits is priceless. Being a gear freak I thoroughly enjoy checking out what state of the art equipment Errol brings along to better hunt Sambar.

His book entitled "Secrets of the Sambar" should be a real beauty as it is the result of about 30 years+ of Sambar hunting experience & research. I call him " Professor Sambar" as he is throughly obsessed with Sambar behaviour. I have ordered 2 of the Limited Release Edition, numbered & signed. One for myself & one for a friend for Christmas. Cost is $99.95 delivered. Those that have made it their mission to get a Sambar stag know that is bloody cheap for the information that it holds.

PM me if you want the details of how to order.

Regards,
JohnT

John,
I'm interested but would hate to see a book version of essentially what's found in the G&G magazine articles. Any idea if its different at all or will we see essentially the same photos and information??
Cheers...

Con & Gryphon1 good question but I already knew that it wasn't just a rehash of his Guns&Game articles. That just would not appeal to the perfectionist in him!

Anyway, I called him up this morning to be sure and I am glad to report that the text is over 60% new, the photos more than 50% new plus the std of printing & the paper is to a much higher resolution than can be done in a magazine.

Knowing Errol this is going to be one classy book (I mean what guide has a Browning Safari Grade with Swarovski 2.5-10 x 56 as a client rifle!!!) & will be a Reference Work in the field of Sambar hunting. Being fully indexed it would be priceless as a reference book.

Just to let you know on the latest is that Errol's been hit by some unexpected expenses in publishing the book so the price of the book is going up to $110 incl. P&H. If you want to order at the Limited Edition price of $99.95 you can still do it BUT hurry your orders must be in & paid for by Friday 3rd November. You heard it first on AR.

Regards
JohnT

I've got a number of PM's so to avoid having to reply to each individually & to avoid delays I've got errol's approval to list his contact details here.

Here is how to contact Errol:

errolmason@sambardeer.com

Errol Mason
PO Box 1558
Bairnsdale 3875
Australia.

The price of the book alone is A$99.95.

As I have had a few enquiries from O/seas Postage & handling to the rest of the world is A$45.00.

Postage & handling within Australia is A$15 (which makes it $115). I know I said $110 but if you say JohnT sent you I'm sure you can get it for $110 for orders received & paid for till say the end of November, 2006.

Regards
John

Don't know Paul, suggest you email Errol & get a price. You would have thought that it should be cheaper but as you can imagine it would be a nightmare to work out a rate for each country.

Email him & I'm sure something can be arranged.

Regards,
John

Sounds like a great book - he knows his stuff. I ordered it already after talking to him and he says its all new text - nothing from his mag articles.

Got an update from Errol last night. The final proofs have been done, so printing in the next few weeks. Best quality paper, Gold Blocking & Errol himself can't believe how good the photos have turned out.

Looks like a real quality book. Can't wait to get my copy for Christmas.

Regards,
JohnT
