WOODJACK
just spoke with brian the other day and yes he will be starting back on his actions, he just got his C.A.D drawings on disc ....what he said he was going to do was to take orders till he has got 20 orders and then do a batch , to make it more economical as setting up time with all cnc machines, jigs is time consuming and expensive
...so in short yes !

Nitrox and M98,
that is good to hear.

PC,
Harre makes M70 style actions, supposedly far superior to anything on the market. HARRE Model 49 actions have features like:

mauser internal C-ring
square bridges
Integral scope rings
Needle roller bearing triggers
extended reciever barrel thread
Titanium extractor claw
1 pc bottom metal,(magbox is not added like a Blackburn m70,but machined together from same block.)
6 sizes,:
17rem -7mmTCU (16.5mm bolt) US$2500.
22/250-358win
25/06-35WHelen
7mmRemMag- 338mag etc.
300H&H-416Rem
338 Lapau- and up (19mm bolt) US$3100

Takedown Versions
Blue,Stainless and Titanium options
Exceptional machining tolerances.

He was at The SCI show in 2004 and recieved a whole bunch of orders.

Prices go up roughly one hundred dollars at a time as you go up in size. Features like integral scope rings and Takedown add to the price again.Integral Rings add about $400-$500. Take down a few hundred more again, for just the takedown action/plate kit.
I was quoted last year US$4000.oo for:
a 270win length action, In Titanium,Integral rings, needle bearing trigger. This I might add included full Ti bottom metal,Ti shroud,Ti claw.

Brian's takedowns, does anyone know if he can make them with the receiver and ring integral to the barrel rather than the action?

Does he only make actions, or complete rifles too?

And does anyone have any pictures of his previous work?

Erik

I have a brochure somewhere that I was supposed to send back. Oops.

It was from his business which he closed down and now is looking to re-open.

Brian used to be a NZ hunting guide. I hunted with him back in 1993. Even then he was converting existing M70's into takedown rifles.

Not sure if he builds complete rifles. Definitely actions.

Brian does/did make complete rifles...i dont know if he will this time around...he just finshed a 7mm RM and over the weeks of shooting it he was getting 2 inch groups at 600m and that was done with consistent monotoney...he said it was getting boring shooting it after a while thats how accurate it was

dont really understand your post /question in relation to the "reciver and ring integral to the barrel"....on the takedowns the front recoil lug also acts as base plate so to speak
for the barrel plate...the recoil lug/plate is large and i suspect that could be part of the reason why he is getting such phenominal accuracey from his take downs...he can pull the rifle apart after each shot and still maintain groups of under an inch even when he shoots a 10 shot group...its just one ragged hole

Daniel

This is what I mean. Lifted from the Heym website:

Where the chamber, receiver and ring are all integral to the barrel.

Rather than the barrel still screwing into the action.

I will look for the brochure.

Yep will do. The original reason I hung onto the brochure was to scan it and post up the photos and text. Better plug the scanner back in.

Brian Harre was/is using a Vee thread form take down system. The reciecer plate is integral. THe barrel plate screws onto the barrel with a lefthand thread and spacer for future adjustment.
