416, Bertram firstly.
However also looking to see if Ed hubel ends up making any from his and RGB's 12gFH brass as well, which is from 50 BMG stock I believe.
The idea is for full power loads, which will mean 2700fps with a 1000gn bullet or so, 16,000 ftlbs.

If I can't afford a double rifle I will be pushing a single twice as hard. Wink

PC,
State arms hopefully. www.statearms.com. Great price for 50BMG-about $1100 AUD and apparently very tough according to Ed hubel who I heard about it from.

As long as Pac-nor and CH4D still want to sell me components(as I cancelled this project once before as you remember) I will bring them and the reamer in first.
If the action does not work out(exports, customs, QLD 50 BMG laws etc.) I can get the work done on a jongmans or something else here.

By the way, Bob devries is doing it.

Karl,

Obviously you will be getting this rifle made for purely practical reasons Big Grin

I think you should be OK on legality because a bloke in Sydney has a 700 H&H.

PC,
Not sure yet. State arms is quite interested in the project but not in exporting.Sniffing around for a third party exporter is probably the go. I am hoping 50BMG actions can still leave the states as I have heard there is an export ban on the rifles themselves.

Mike Big Grin

Since the rifle will need to weigh 20 lbs even for 2000fs factory loads I've decided to make a meal out of a still-birth and go for a portable 30lbs or so. Technically I need 35 or more but luckily the tank brake(matching the profile of the thickest part of the action Big Grin ) should allow me to keep things closer to traditional.

And sorry Stu- If I procrastinate anymore with this one Devries will probably come hunting me.

You would need to get state arms to list there action as a ".700 Nitro" action and have them send it to a licences ffl such as simpsons.......hypothetically if Bob had three to build would he do all the legwork for getting the actions in if he had the job to build them ??

Not sure PC. If you were to give him a call it would certainly put the idea in his mind there are several serious customers, especially since you are one of his previous clients.

However I can't take advantage of you withoiut reminding there may be a cheaper option for you and your mate. Especially since you will be going for something more portable. Nothing secretive about it, just sent off a mail and too lazy to retype Smiler
