Which trip did you enjoy the most? If you were limited to one or the other which would you choose. If you own a gun and you are not a member of the NRA and other pro 2nd amendment organizations then YOU are part of the problem.

Horses for courses mate. My Aussie buff I did by myself, killed, caped, fleshed etc and its very special to me. It was taken on a place that I hunted a lot and I took it with some good mates. My two African buff were taken on safari with Saeed and one we had to follow up in the scrub. I wouldn't swap one heart thumping minute of that hunt for anything. In Africa I started hunting with strangers and finished hunting with new mates. Different memories but fantastic ones on both continents. If I had to do one? Africa, because of the different types of animals you see as you drive around. ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Since I'll never be able to make Africa, and hopefully can to Australia, next year. I'm looking forward to that. And some of the other animals, even though basically farm type stock. Though wild as hell. Tony, did you mount that bull? IF so, I have some questions to ask. will by e'mail though. Thanks, George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" I've hunted buffalo in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Argentina and Australia. 135 in all. Each place has its own appeal. The upside to Africa is that it's Africa, a different world where they have their own way of doing things and struggling through. Ironically the downside is pretty much the same; its a different world with different ways of doing things and you might spend more time struggling through than you'd prefer. One thing about it, the chances of having an adventure are quite high. The continent is an adventure. If I hadn't done a buffalo hunt before, and thought it might be the only one I'd probably do what I did and hunt Africa. On the other hand, I've already done what I've done and if I only had one buffalo trip left in me I'd go to Australia. No question what-so-ever.

Thanks guys. Mike: that's a convincer! Tony: Please get your INCH tape measure out I'd like some half decent sizes of that head if you'd be willing to take a few. Between the eyes, width, or dia of nose, tip of nose to boss, width of head at boss. I'm wanting to paint up a target to practice on and would like to know where to start. shooting at round circle's don't cut it when the real thing can bite back. Sure appreciate it. I can get you the skull measurements if you want, but I don't see how it will help much. Water buffalo carry their heads close to level horizontally. On the frontal shot you want to get your bullet into the area between and behind the eyes. That can require shooting through half of his snout to get there, because of the way he bolds his head. On the side shot there is a triangle formed by the eye, ear and bottom edge of the horn. Pound him in the middle of that and he's going nowhere but down.

Both are great hunts, cape and asiatic but if push came to shove and I had to choose it would be the Banteng head on my wall that I would keep.

Thanks Mike, no I haven't gotten a reply. Yeah I know how they hold their heads. Been figuring a face on shot like that would need to go below the chin into the throat area & hit the spine. at least that's what I have in mind so far. What have you found with that position in your in the flesh n bull experience? GLDwight1@yahoo.com Thanks much, appreciate it. George "Gun Control is NOT about Guns' "It's about Control!!" George, that front-on presentation is very common, and as long as you pop the bullet into the centre or a third of the way up, they do the "I'm dead!" buck and turn, run and fall-over. The throat shot also works but can take a little longer.

Sorry George I've been a little busy of late painting a house Mate I was going to knock your request back as I've never measured my buff but as you don't want the horn dimensions, I thought bugger it. Muzzle width - 6 inch eye to muzzle - 10 inch eye to eye -9 inch width of boss just above eyes- 8 inch That is taken from my mount, a live buff will be different of course. Perhaps get a pic of a water buff and have a printing mob blow it up for you. ------------------------------ A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. BenKK has it right. I'll only add that the spine dips way down into the body cavity so you can hit the spine with a center hold on his wishbone. Lower takes more heart. What you've got to be careful of is shots that stray to the side and only get one lung or go between the ribs and shoulder. I like frontal shots on animals, they are so leg bucklingly decisive.
