Hi all My son shot a wildebeest last year and we had in mounted Euro skull style by a taxidermist in Namibia. I got confirmation this week that it is ready to ship, so have been trying to confirm any permits or other requirements before it gets sent out of Namibia. I have spoken to Customs and DAFF, and neither one seems to have any advanced requirements. DAFF will inspect when it arrives, but otherwise all seems fine. The species is not on any endangered list, so does not seem to be any problem there either. This is my son’s first big game trophy, and I would hate for something to go wrong during the process. Is there anything else I need to consider before I give my outfitter the go ahead to ship?

Don't know, mate. Your process seems a little different to mine. My brother and I are just now arranging for our trophies from last year to be shipped from RSA. Our taxidermist over there sent them to a freight forwarding company that specialises in trophies, and they wanted to know who our customs broker is at this end. So our customs broker is handling the receiving and inspection of our shipment, and will then freight it to us. PM me if you want details of our customs broker. It's the first time I've done this, so I will be very relieved when they are safe and sound.

If you are well away from a major capital, it will be difficult to do without a broker. but possible.. A day spent in the bush is a day added to your life Hunt Australia - Website Hunt Australia - Facebook Hunt Australia - TV

Where do you live. Dont need exact location but general area. Only asking as may be able to advise on a broker. As no skin then my understanding is Quarantine inspect and then should be right to go.

You should be able to complete a single entry yourself without the need for a brokers services. Talk to customs about completing registration so you will be in the system. You may need to look up an exemption code in their tariff book - I used to use the one for Museum specimens until a nice customs lady pointed out there is one specific for hunting trophies. Receiving taxidermists usually have this close to hand so you could ask if you are friendly with one. You will need exporter documents supporting what's in the box and copies of the airwaybill.

Thanks all. I am in Melbourne. I believe I am in the customs systems due to travelling with firearms, but maybe thats just for export.

Thanks Matt, I will touch base with Tony & see what he says. May be the easiest way to go if he is reasonable.
