Guys,
Finally picked up my 470 Capstick from Bob deVries. Rifle's been in the works for almost 2 years because I'm slack, was broke and I like to let Bob work at his own pace. Just to annoy PC Big Grin and others its built on a Rem700 action, uses the original BDL stock (cross-bolted), with larger recoil lug, and barrel profile is the original 375H&H BDL profile. I asked Bob for a working gun I could carry after Sambar, and that's exactly what I got back from him. Next thing is to load some rounds (500gr at 2150fps) and sort out any issues that may arise, Sako extractor may be in the works later, but we'll see how the standard one goes. I'm refitting the Leupold 2.5x today which will bring total weight to around 4-4.2kg. Hopefully, I can get to the range in the coming weeks and have a play! Anyone looking for a fantastic gunsmith, look no further than Bob de Vries, but get in line! My Win M70 is going in late Feb for a rebarrel to 358Win, and then the ZG47 to build a "real" custom. Tht should keep my broke for awhile!!
Cheers...

Con,

I had my vssf rem 700 22/250 out last night looking at it...............and I am insuch turmoil, it makes me sick to look at it yet it shoots good bewildered it is subject to get swapped out for a heavy barrelled cz 22/250.

Anyway's back to your rifle....at last you got it beer and I have had the privalege to handle it a while back and jeez is it light, but all work is first rate as you say and it is built exactly as you asked and all work is of the finiest quality going around what more could you ask for.

Photo's please !!

Now if he would just get in and get my .404 finished....and the 50-110 Big Grin

You sure that .470 is up to it ? I'd have thought .50 BMG at least ! Big Grin

The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood.

Guys,
Just about to move house so the pics will have to wait awhile. Regarding using a 470Capstick on Sambar.... well I will be downloading the 500gr Woodleighs to 2150fps Big Grin Besides, once sighted in I have a special stag I wish to introduce the Capstick too. Chased him all last year and only caught up with his ladies... he was too smart in '04, but '05 is a new ball game.
Cheers...
