Feds to ban croc safaris By CAMDEN SMITH 11jan04 THE Federal Government is expected to stop the Territory legalising crocodile hunting safaris. The Territory Government made the request in a five-yearly crocodile plan of management, which has been lodged with Federal Environment Minister David Kemp. The idea was for 25 crocodiles over 4m to be shot by wealthy safari hunters every year. It is estimated overseas hunters would pay up to $6000 to shoot a crocodile. The NT Government believes the money would have provided income and employment for rural regions, particularly Aboriginal communities. But the Government has received a letter from the Department of Environment and Heritage saying the Federal Government was against the safari hunting trial. About 600 crocodiles are culled in the Territory every year. But under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species, Territory crocodiles cannot be used in ``unsustainable trade'', which includes safari hunting. Environment Minister Chris Burns said it was inconsistent of the Federal Government not to allow low-level safari hunting. ``There's already provision for the harvesting of 600 crocodiles a year in the Territory and our plan does not change existing quotas,'' he said. ``To now suggest we shouldn't be allowed to have low-level safari hunting is totally inconsistent. ``These bureaucrats in Canberra are saying it's OK to get rid of problem crocs but they don't want safari hunting. ``Maybe what's needed is for the Canberra mob to get themselves away from the shores of Lake Burley-Griffin and come up to have a look at the reality of crocodiles in Top End waterways. ``We're proposing a strictly-regulated operation that will increase economic opportunities, largely for remote Aboriginal communities.'' Ray Hall, of the Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation in Maningrida, said he was disappointed at the expected knock-back. ``It will be a decision made by people in cities in Australia who have no concept of the reality of living in a part of the world with crocodiles,'' he said. ``Managing and using the population is a conservation tool, and the revenue from safaris would provide money to further monitor and research crocodiles.''

Then we got that mad cow in Queensland who repaid the petrol bill that her offspring used to drive the tax payer electrate car to see the footy final in Sydney. Protected by the old bull Beaty, we now have to wait 30 fucking years to find out how long these thieving arseholes have had their noses in the piggy trough! I mean they have been in seven years, and the whole lot of them feds & state are a pack of lying, thieving, mad cow, useless cunts!!

Just erks me when Beatty (the cunt with teeth that my mum told me about)asks for another term in government so that our labour arseholes can impliment the CJC recommendations to fix the fuck ups that they created over the last seven years! What a flea-bitten, scheming, peanut-brained, two-faced obscene useless prick he is! Other than that, it was a good session Sun, I shot my 577/450 in the service shoot

Instead of putting that pack of useless arseholes back or replacing then with a new bunch of cock-sucking Lib/Nat wankers, why don't we just put in a bunch of "work for the dole kids" in and pay them the dole! It would save millions and I bet they could do a better job!!!

Bad Ass, They showed a clip of Beaty talking about the proposed Croc hunting over here and he came across as a decent enough bloke..I think his criticisms of the Australian hunting industry and Australians had a more than a ring of truth to it. You guys should take on what Beaty says and start putting your house in order and then maybe you will get your croc season back. As it is, its hard to argue with the figures he quotes and the arguments he made.... Regards, Pete

Pete, What did he say? | |||

Basically, he outlined all his successes and what he had delivered to the ordinary Australian whilst in office. He admitted there was more work to be done, but asked for you guys continued support…he said people were too quick to jump to negative conclusions…he seemed very sincere and I think perhaps Wallace is a bit harsh on his judgement of the guy?

The honest face you saw is not the face that works (i.e two-faced useless prick) Where does one start? Ah yes, the car affair - Mary Rose gives her son a gov car to go to work she has been there for 6 years before she got caught - solution submitt the papers to cabinet so they get locked up for 30 years so that we the taxpayers can't get answers. How many others of the 66 arseholes are rorting. Remember Mal Colston the old cunt got off rort charges because he had terminal cancer but still had his face in the piggy trough for another 5 years! Childrens Dept - pay the head $900,000 in performance bonuses for presiding over the greatest injustice to kids in this state Handguns Confiscation- Howard told Beatty do it or I will with hold hospital funding. Notice that the funding was released 2 days after he agreed. This is blackmail and the public should have been informed of the fact. How a nation with 6 Labour premiers can be stood over by a Lib is beyond me, suffice when 90% of the people say the buyback is wrong and they proceed then the whole lot brand themselves fucken stupid cunts! Electricity - This fundumental supply has increased in price substancially because Beatty is drawing up to $1000,000,000 from the electricity authorities to prop up his governments poor finincial management. Officers in the Electricity Boards are paid 20% bonuses to shut up and deliver (I used to work for one) Stamp Duties - The rate applied to stamp duties has NOT changed in six years even though prices for houses have doubled and doubled again. How are my kids to afford a home when bloody stamp duty is almost $20,000 av. His greed has all but wiped out any benifit from the Feds first home scheme Guns- The DPP charges a firearms dealer with 156 offences, it gets to court and is thrown out in 1 hour. The DPP recharges the same dealer with 60 re-worded offences. The case drags out over 6 weeks and the defendant is found NOT GUILTY. The DPP has spent $1,500,000 chasing frivilous charges. THe defendant has spent $320,000 defending himself; but in Queensland if you defend a criminal charge then you are liable for the cost EVEN IF THE STATE LOOSES! Ditto old JOH; $1,250,000 (not guilty) Ditto Pauline $715,000 (not guilty). If you or I get charged do we hock all our possessions or cop it sweet and go to jail? Am I shitty on Beatty; you bet - he is a two-faced, big spending, fucken do nothing media tart and those who vote for him must be blind or plain stupid. Mind the alternatives are shaping up just as bad; What am I going to vote

Quote: Yes but other than the usual polly BS and lies, what did he say about croc hunting???? Taking into account of course, the Northern Territory government is asking the Federal government for permission to start safari hunting on saltwater crocs, and Beatty is Premier of Queensland, another state. Maybe he is worried if the NT goes ahead someone is going to push him to start safari crocs in Qld and then he will have to make a decision.

I'm sorry, but homes in California are averaging around $400,000 and up. Starter homes usually go for $300,000. Real estate prices have been out of control here for quite a few years. Too many people moving in from snow states who have an abundance of extra cash. These folks don't even dicker with the real estate agents at all. Whatever the asking price was, boom, cash money. Also, taxes are pretty high here to pay for the welfare system. But, you guys are used to welfare states over there, aren't you?

Nitrox, Actually I have to confess i was trolling to get a response from Bad Ass! He reminds me of a good friend of mine who is so easy to get going..when the subject of Tony Blair comes up, all you have to do is say like he is not such a bad guy after all, and my mate goes off like a bottle of pop! On a more serious note with regards Croc hunting, the coverage we got on TV (without Beatty!) was actually quite positive. I missed the very beginning, but they interviewed a guy who I think worked for one of the Parks uo there and he said basically the crocs needed culling, the proposed and existing cull figures were both sustainable and open to review in the future and that if the cull had to take place, he could not see why it should not bring economic benifit to the area. He went on to say that the alternative was that people would start dealing with theproblem themselves ( this goes on already?) and it was better that they had control over the process rather than pushing it underground so to speak.... Regards, Pete

I agree with you.We have become what we hated. The following is from my union newsletter "4.USA ELECTIONS-------------------------We should get a vote! There is an argument that the USA election result will affect our future more than our own federal election. Particularly if we re-elect bonsai (a small bush)." And I tend to agree with it in a small way that howard seems to willing to do whatever bush says. Peter( I know you were talking about the state election but the same applies.)

Just heard on the news tonight that Howard cut HIS holiday short to meet with the top US general. I would have thought that the visiting general would adjust HIS schedule to suit the HEAD of OUR COUNTRY.
