UPDATE: A GIPPSLAND Greens federal election candidate has admitted hunting deer on his property at Cabbage Tree Creek.

Scott Campbell-Smith said the Greens opposed recreational hunting, not pest control making his hunting exploits within party policy parameters.

"We oppose recreational hunting, but not feral animal control done humanely,'' he said.

"I have some acres and deer are a problem for me, as they are for my neighbours and pretty generally in the East Gippsland region.''

Mr Campbell-Smith said he was licensed and hunted only to humanely cull deer on his land.

Country Alliance will contest the same Federal seat of Gippsland, and spokesman Andrew Jones accused the Greens of "double standards''.

"The position taken by the Greens in this situation is hypocritical and they should dump their anti-hunting policy now,” Mr Jones said.

The Australian Greens Victoria policy lists ``ending recreational hunting, including duck shooting'' as one of the party's key priorities.

Jones is right. Those Green tossers have a real attitude of "do what I say, not what I do".

Never voted for one - hope never to be so senile, I do vote for one.

why should they[culled animals]not be consumed?

consuming the meat of several different animal species[native or feral] that have been culled in Australia,
is nothing strange or new,...ie; the brumby, buffalo,Kangaroo.

To be fair, I have looked at the Greens policies on animals .. http://greens.org.au/policies/animals

and I dont see anything saying that they are against hunting/killing for consumption.

I have no doubt that the Greens are against inhumane killing, or just killing for sport/trophies or entertainment purposes.

I dont believe the Greens are against culling if it is to preserve/protect native flora and fauna,
or to protect peoples commercial interests ie; farms/crops/livestock.

G'Day Fella's,

Most extremists are the same, with their "The End Justifies the Means" philosophy!
Some other classic examples would be; Adolf Hitler, Anti-Abortionists and of course Terrorists and they all use the same approach and philosophy!!!

Regardless, there all the same, just HYPOCRITES!

Double Doh!!

Taken from AHN- Seems like he also likes to eat venison.....to keep cost down. Its a bit different when we hunt and consume what we eat. We're still blood thirsty rednecks. When he does it he's environmentally responsible Roll Eyes
