... not tempted anymore - I gave in.

I should have shouted "vade retro me, Satana" and thrown holy water all over the salesman, but I didn't.

I now have a deposit on a .270 BRNO ZKK600 WITH rear bridge peep sight. Didn't even look at the barrel, because I don't want a 270, I want a 9.3x62 ......With a ghost ring rear peep ....

What a pity it's too late now .... dancing

Pity there aren't any threads about Heavy calibre gunsmiths in Aus .... Whistling

Y'know, no matter how many times the angel on one shoulder cries "NO!" and wins, it only requires the devil on the other shoulder to win once .... Smiler

I do love my BRNOs and CZs.

For some really stupid reason I feel a connection to the Czechs - they don't even know I exist .....

G'Day Fella's,

Bren 7x64, I'm hard pressed to think of a better action for your new barrel to get screwed into!
You're not by yourself on the attraction toward Brno/CZ rifles, they really are very under rated!!!

Personally, the Germans and the Austrians get all the Ink on being smart and innovative, which is unfortunate for the Czechs, as they are right up there with the best of them!

Nice to meet up with you the other day!!!

Doh!

Hi Homer,

Thanks. I'm a great fan of the CZ / BRNO marque. So what if the safety works different from every other brand - if everything you have works the same way, no problem.

Not that all the other brands are standardised in any way.

Yeah, it was a shock meeting you - who would imagine that we'd meet in a gun place? Smiler

Nah, just ..... alright, bragging.

Actually the action's not in the best condition, so it'll require the application of lots of money to get it right ....

That's what a day job is for ..... Smiler

Why don't gunshops in the ACT have the same signs as the clubs / casinos - you know, the ones that say "If you are weak-willed and can't be trusted to know when to stop, tell us now and we'll kick your arse out along with a card with the contact details of gamblers helpline"?

I was in the LGS today, paying the final lot on the aforementioned 270, when Satan took earthly form and tempted me .... he said "You know, we've had a couple more BRNOs come in this week"

"Vade retro me, Satana" I cried - to no avail. Weeping and kicking I was held down, while he paraded before me a MINT BRNO Fox no 2 (missing rear sight is all) in .22 HORNET - at a good price (last time I saw one on Usedguns.com.au they wanted over $800).

Threatened with hot irons I signed for it .... I am WEAK, WEAK, WEAK!!! And I'm looking forward to getting it ...... Smiler

It was something on my list to get - I was looking at CZ, and they cost over $1,300 new here.

Are there any Catholic orders of flagellants left here - I need to join one - "mea culpa, mea culpa".

Note to self - work more overtime.

Gawd you sound like me mate. I took my Rem 300 win to my gun shop the other day to see how much they would give me for it. Walked out with a Sako 338. AND the Rem 300 win. Went back to the gun shop a week later to get somescope rings for the 338. Guess what?... I swapped the 338 for a REM custom KS 8mm mag. And you think your weak. Ive still got the 300win

You can try the Phillipines, just let me look after the CZs while you undergo flagellation. Roll Eyes Big Grin

Its a curse. The man who owns a Brno needs only one gun, yet wants so many more.

Yea - you know its bad when . . . you keep your bolts separate in a tub . . . and you get them out to do something and thinking "theres a bit of weight in this thing" realise there are six Mauser bolts there (and there's still one at the 'smiths) !!

Gidday Doug - hope things are good with you . . .

I still haven't shot my 270, in the meantime I got a 6.5-06, had a good play with it but it wouldn't shoot, found by bore-scopong it that what looked like a nice tube was shot out. So its getting a new barrel.

Hopefully it'll be here in time for another tahr hunt I have planned for early June - this time we are going up the Godley (past that game farm we glassed on the Old Farts hunt)

Cheers
