Hope some of you others are doing better than we are around here in the Wimmera.

A few isolated dams are holding mobs of woodies, a few blackies and some Mountains. I don't shoot Mountains though as I don't eat them. I can eat a galah or a corella- a young one- but I cannot tackle a Mountian.

Few blackies on some channels but very few compared to other years.

We live opposite the Lake here in our town and it is holding quite a few blackies, grey teal and for the first year in many, a few Chestnut teal.

Are there others doing better?

The season will be over in no time.

Don't offer too many temptations, mate.

I am already very keen on going over the ditch- yep, despite Muzza- within the next twelve months.

We have a Kiwi teacher here (as I have mentioned before) who is a really good bloke and is now into shooting. We are all getting keener on the idea of getting over to the land of the long White Cloud.

When does your season open and close?

Is our hunting Licence accepted over there? Can we rent a semi auto while you are there?

Can you actually eat those birds that look like coots?

Still waiting for the rains to start the creeks flowing over here which usually brings a few ducks in. Usually start seeing them if we are lucky in the last week or two of the season. Plenty AFTER the season closes in winter though. Frowner

Heard some last night however! But they didn't land.

In Sale area we managed 91 birds opening weekend, 7 shooters. second weekend of season was 56 birds, 5 shooters. These were woodies, mounties, blackies and teal in that order.

This is the first weekend out since then and we got 10 last night, 2 shooters. Should have bagged out but due to very poor shooting by both of us only 10, 1 blk, 3 teal, 6 woodies.

All on private land on dams, mix of jumping and waiting first light and evening.
