I heard that a shooter at Tomball Tex just set a new 100 yard world record. Five shot group measuring .040 (40 thousanths of an inch) with a 30BR that broke the old record that stood for 25 years. Anyone know any more details?

Jackie Schmidt set a possible record with the 30BR, but I believe it was for the LV 100yard agg, not group. You can find out more on benchrest.com where Jackie was heartily congratulated by everyone but the 6ppc die hards who were only recently blowing air about how silly anyone who tried to shoot a 30BR in group was---

Jackie Schmidt shot a 5 shot 100 yard agg. of .1118 with his 30BR and it was shot in Midland, Tx. Jackie is from Houston and his home club range is the Tomball, Tx. range. That means that he shot 5-5 shot groups that averaged .1118" center to center.

My wife, Sara, shot a pending IBS world record today at York, Pa. It was the Pennsylvania State IBS 100-200 Yd. score championships. She shot her Remington 700 action, Lilja 3 groove 17 twist barrel, chambrered in 30BR. Varmint Hunter rifles are limited to 10 lbs., 2.25" forearms, must have magazines and may not have more than a 6X scope. She shot an agg of 500-21X. Previous record was 500-16X.

The all-time worlds record was shot nearly forty years ago at the range in Lewiston, Idaho. Light Varmint .007" at 100 yds.
Probably never be equaled...

Yes - but I believe that was a 5 shot group only. Jackie's was 5 - 5 shot groups that averaged .1118"

I was close! I went to one Super Shoot with Russ Haydon when he was first starting out. Alan Hall let me shoot his HV 6PPC. There were 387 shooters that year in HV. He coached me well enough to finish about 98th.
Those things are like a laser...

As if that was not enough for one month, Jackie just drove over to Louisiana and shot a perfect 25X in score BR, where a lot of group shooters wish the 30BR had stayed......................
