I'm looking for any easy to construct windflag designs suitable for using when shooting .22BR. I purchased some 2nd hand ones last year but they were made for 600-1000yard C/F BR and are a little to heavy and to slow to react to wind changes for my needs. Does anyone have any designs/plans/suggestions? "untarnished by the brazen ego's of others"

I use the poly-tape strips sold at building supply shops for surveying. Bright colors, cheap, light, and react to the wind. When you say "22BR" are you talking rimfire or centerfire rifles? What ranges?

Mr. Ladd, He is referring to a 6BR centerfire necked down to 22. GOONMYSON go to benchrest central and do a search. You can find pics of inexpensive ones all the way to my $100 ea. flags. Butch

William I'm currently survey tape but have yet to find the ideal length. Too long and they wrap around my stakes, too short and they just flutter around with out giving a decent indication of wind speed. Oh and its .22BR rimfire out to 100yards. "untarnished by the brazen ego's of others"

Hi Butch I've had a look see at benchrest central. I just love to be able to afford $100 flags. Unfortunately most windflag designs are intended for c/f bench rest comps and are to cumbersome for .22BR.I realise I could attempt to scale them down. But was hoping that someone had done that already "untarnished by the brazen ego's of others"

Our windflags use sail cloth that is cut at 2" wide and formed in a vee shape. If you will go to my website you can see them. They just rise and fall with the wind and do not flutter. www.shadetreeea.com You can buy sail cloth in your country and do the same. Butch

Butch Like I said I'd just love to be able to afford $100 wind flags. I have to say I was shocked that was the price just for the flag with out the bases. That would mean a $650 bill by the time I'd added bases. A bit to steep for me in these times of economic crisis. Yeap We can get sail cloth here in the UK which might be ideal for the streamers. Thanks for the tip. "untarnished by the brazen ego's of others"

Has anyone tried either of these wind flags? http://www.battenfeldtechnolog...tor-Wind-Flag-3-pack http://www.elkcreek.org/northw.../northwindflags.html $50-$60 of a set of 3 including stands. "untarnished by the brazen ego's of others"

In my opinion, the "music stand" flagpoles need to be staked down to keep them from blowing over. I've seen this happen several times. NRA Patron Life Member Benefactor Level

Doc I think there are associated problems with all of the stand/pole types. I have known many a pole be bent when its owner has hit something hard whilst hammering it in place. I now pin my light weight target stands down as it just removes the doubt when the wind picks up. "untarnished by the brazen ego's of others"
