I am loading up some different loads for my new .270 and need a good place to test them out. I am looking for a place on public land in the vicinity of the Denver area. Does anybody know of a good place to shoot?

I know this can be sensitive info, so I thank you in advance for sharing. Also, feel free to PM through the site if you want.

Many agencies have maps that show public lands. I get mine from the USFS. They are free and show all federal lands (USFS, BLM, etc) and a lot of State lands too. BLM used to provide the same service but I haven't dealt with them in a while.

There is a really nice range at Byers. You have to belong to the Club to shoot there but it's probably worth the membership fee. They have ranges at all distances out to 1000 yards.
