One of my new aquaintences that I met a while back has been into shooting pretty much all of his life. He is about 55-60, and he has been telling me about a process that the shooting world did a while back. That was to put powdered graphite in with your powder and to coat the riflings with it after cleaning. He said that it would help with clean bore shots, and help to minimise copper build up. Have some of you shooters that have been in the busisness for a while heard of this, does it work or is it hokey? Thanks, Croberts

I treated a pound of H322 with 12gr. of Moly. I was told (by a very highly respected BR gunsmith) that it lowered the temp of the powder flame. I saw no benefit or negative results.

Most powder is already coated with Graphite !!! After all why do you think the powder is grey ? Cellulose nitrate is not grey ! The graphite is used to coat the powder so it flows easier and reduces problems with static electric charges !!
eddie, I don't know about that one but Red Dot, Green Dot,Blue Dot are grey with an occasional colored one ! In general powders are graphite coated for the reasons stated .
