I am interested in starting to shoot at long distances. I just purchased a scope over the Thanksgiving day holiday. I would like to sight in my rifle at 200yds and move the trajectory up for longer shoots. There are many ballistics calculators on the internet, but I am unsure how to use the ballistic table with click. Can one of you give me a quick lesson (long Range Shooting for Dummies), it would be greatly appreciated.

If your scope is 1/4 minute clicks (for example) then you know what to do. This should get you on the paper, but sight it in at 100 yards first and SHOOT GROUPS (so you know what your rifle is capable of!

JBM Balsitics is a free program

you will need to know the Balistic Coefficient of the bullet you are using, as well as the muzzle velocity.

Plug the data into the drop chart and hit calculate.

Then, take the load to the range and test it at each 100yd increment out to say 500yds. Note the drop of the real bullet, VS the drop listed on the chart. if they vary, adjust the BC in the chart and recalculate it. You will be plenty fine when the real impact equals the chart impact. The best test will be the impact at 400-500yds, and then you have the chart done.

Difficulty is inevitable
