Hi to all,
I have a 222-Rem. Sako 75 with stainless-st./heavy /23.3" barrel. I use it to shot to 200 meters [=218 yds]in bench-rest-type shooting. Best results are 5 rounds groups in about 1,025" [center to center] with 21 grs of Norma 200 and 53 grs Sierra bullet, neck resizing and 0 free-bore. I think these results are improvable,so I'd like to know how... My availability is : Sierra or Lapua bulletts. Norma ,Vitavuori and BLC2, powders.[4198 is un-available]. Brass from Federal,Winchester,R-P,Norma.Lapua.
Every your infos will be welcome.
Thanks in advance,regards and ciao!

I have an early 40X in 222.

24.3gr BLC2
Berger 52gr FB Match
Rem 7 1/2 BR primers

This load in my rifle shoots in the 2's and 3's with almost boring regularity. Anything over 1/2" is a really bad day.

Craigster,
thanks for load. I think I can reproduce it but with Sierra 52.
What about free bore,Oal,resizing, Br. or normal primers, neck turning.??
If possible let me know something.
See you soon and regards.

Gaetano,

I originally used Federal premium cases, but have found that any good brass seems to work just as well. As far as prep goes, I debur the flash holes and FL size. I don't weight sort the brass, just try to use the same lot #. After the initial firing, I neck size only with a Redding neck sizer die. I have never turned the necks. Primers are Remington 7 1/2 BR which Remington refers to as "benchrest", others may work just as well. It just happens that I've been using that primer for all my small rifle applications forever and they work just fine. I load the rounds to an OAL of 2.200", which is .010-.012" off the lands in this rifle. I also use the same load in another Rem 700 (not 40X) and it shoots very well in that rifle also. Hope this helps.

I am sure that one of the Vita Vouri powders would work well for you, probably the 130 or 133. My guess would be the 130. Use reloading techniques which are geared to accuracy, like benchrest shooting, and groups less than 1/2 inch should be easily obtainable. Good shooting.
