I recently purchased a Mauser 98 configured in 1950's benchrest style. Heavy walnut with wide beavertail, high comb with relief for bolt, home-made adjustable trigger (set to less than 8 ounces), Unertl style scope bases, all extremely well fitted and finished. Seen lots of them, but this one is stamped "257 CLIPPER". Chamber cast looks like a 308 that got the Ackley Improved treatment. Almost no case taper and with sharp case shoulder. Underside of barrel is Marked "E A NICKERSON". Anyone know anything about this caliber or this gunsmith? Mike Ryan - Gunsmith | ||
