Are they implying that the plane hit the water ?? How could he recover from that ? What is the human error if he caught the wire ? We non- pilots want to know .

They didn't hit water but damn close - too close. I believe the human error was setting up the arresting engine to the proper weight. ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

ONLY an E-2 with that kind of wing and props could have pulled that off. Amazing. USN (ret) DRSS Verney-Carron 450NE Cogswell & Harrison 375 Fl NE Sabatti Big Five 375 FL Magnum NE DSC Life Member NRA Life Member

When I was in the navy I was trained in the a carried launched anti sub air craft S2E, twin engine . Before I ever had the chance to get on a carrier I was transferred to a land based squadron using P2V, a bummer since flight time went from 6 to 20 hours If my memory serves me once the arresting cable is hooked the engines are raced in the event something goes wrong so they have sufficient power for a recovery as what happened in the above video where the arresting cable broke. A recip has a better chance of recovery from a situation like this but I have seen several videos where jet fighters recovered from this situation several showed their landing gear was slicing the water...talk about a pucker factor NRA Life Member, ILL Rifle Assoc Life Member, Navy
