Peter.

Be without fear in the face of your enemies. Be brave and upright, that God may love thee. Speak the truth always, even if it leads to your death. Safeguard the helpless and do no wrong;

I'm glad all the crew got out, but holy cow the only thing needed for clean up appears to be a bunch of scoop shovels:

Pretty cool pic of the jettisoned pod:

Not many places besides Montana, a horse would show up at a crash emergency response site. Smiler

I've been hunting in remote hills of eastern Wyoming and had a bomber come over at very low altitude (under 500 feet?) as they practiced their nap of the earth radar avoidance technique. I was amazed at how quiet they were in that coast mode and how chilling it was to have one of those ghost over my head.

I suspect this one developed whatever problem it had at rather low altitude and that doesn't give them much time for problem solving.

There was a major joint services wargame off of the Louisiana coast when I was a lad working offshore. Probably 79, 80 or 81. I remember sitting on the bit of a barge fishing and a series of B-52s came overhead in a simulated low-level attack. They were really quiet on approach, like you say. I grew up on air bases, very familiar with jets on approach and I was still startled at how close they were before I heard them approaching.

"Experience" is the only class you take where the exam comes before the lesson.
