I'm down, much as I appreciate the Wright brothers.

I disagree. There are billions of women. There are hundreds and thousands of women pilots.
There is only one pair of guys that developed roll pitch and yaw controls.
The Wright Bros made flight possible for everyone.

I personally only knew about 5 female fighter pilots in 20 years in Naval Aviation. Now that I work as a defense contractor, I know just two more.

They are damn rare.

The ECMO, EWO, RIO gals are pretty common. Lots of gals in the back seat, not many driving. I don't have a personal philosiphy on it, it is hard to get to be a fighter pilot.

The vast majority of fighter pilots I know are the most arrogant people I have ever met. But I don't know one that has any degree that isn't engineering and most of them have masters in engineering. Start counting heads of fighter pilots and the numbers at any time in the Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps will be smaller than special forces by a long shot.

Not saying fighter pilots are cooler than SEALS, just a hell of a lot fewer of them.

I don't believe your numbers are correct. At any given time there are as many or way more Naval Aviators occupying other jobs rather than flying in an active squadron status than there are fleet pilots. All Navy pilots will eventually be assigned to a ships company billet on a carrier or a billet aboard a Naval Air Station, various staff jobs of which there are thousands, Post Grad school, Naval Academy/ROTC instructors, the Pentagon, on and on! The standard career pattern for Naval Aviators only provides three 30 month tours in a fleet squadron, which leaves lots of time for causing trouble somewhere else!Big Grin I have a son who is in the Navy Special Ops business and I know how many (few) guys are attached to Spec Ops command; nowhere close to the number of pilots. As a former pilot who was also a pre-crack-troop grad of the Naval Academy I'll just say that we can always hope that the women will tire of the strain and leave Navy Air to the guys who really appreciate the job and have the balls to do it justice! I know plenty of pilots who served with women aviators and I know none who were impressed and enthusiastic about further indulgement.
