For the first time - not surprised -the A350 is going to be one hell of an aeroplane. Cathay and United have also chosen the A350 over the troublesome 787.

A350-1000 will carry 350 passengers 8400miles.....

i will be flying an Airbus380 in about a month from Heathrow to LAX( BA, first class). it will be interesting to see how it compares to the 777/747/400.

Like every other aircraft that's been introduced but the 787 battery problem plus the constant delays have cost airlines (and Boeing) millions.

And From what have read they STILL don't know what causes the Lithium batteries to melt down.....bit of a worry.

You will be pleasantly surprised - quietest cabin in the sky atm. Passengers love the 380.

Anyone that thinks you can design and introduce something as large as a new plane like a 787 without problems does not understand the complexity of engineering.
It is very common for companies to want to buy the latest and greatest and then pee in their pants when they cannot get it.
So far Boeing has killed no one. When they get the problems worked out they will have a more advanced plane than the Airbus.

Here in Australia, Jetstar (low cost subsidiary of Qantas) received their first 787-800 today - over 4 years late. No doubt the A350 will have its hurdles to cross too.

A big article in the press here today claims that total orders for the 787 is 830 and the A350 is 1030 to date. Competition is good. It ultimately results in better planes from both manufacturers.

Hasn't United also ordered the A350?

United has 50 A-350's on order I believe. They are also staying the course withe the 787 and have upgraded their remaining orders to the larger 787-1000 model.
