It would be interesting to see members pictures of past or present airplanes. To start it off here are some of my favorites: Here is my Citabria on a ramp near a favorite "fly out" fishing hole not far from home: Hope you don't mind Phil - but here are some bushplanes at 458Win 's hunting area - a couple of which I enjoyed flying in during a brown bear hunt there a couple of years ago: His Producer: (note the rifle case strapped under the wing) Phils son Taj's (my guide) cub: (note the spoilers on the wings to keep it on the ground during high wind). Taj is working in Zambia now. A new (two years ago) cub belonging to my packer on the trip - Marty Meirotto who is a smoke jumper and trapper from Fairbanks. Martys brother built the plane. And this one is hangered next to mine. It belongs to my friend Mark Trimble. It is the original plane from the Fantasy Island series. Mark has restored it and its great fun to fly. My most memorible ride in a nice ride was Dr. Connell's Helio Courier. That was at the Tanacross cars races many years ago. This was just out of Fairbanks. Butch | |||

Don't know if you Yanks know, but the 180's did stirling service here droping granulated fertilizer. A metal or fibreglass hopper behind the front seats, and carrying up to about half a ton, with a seaplane prop. What they lacked in carrying ability they made up for with speed, as most times 10cwt. went over a 1 1/4 mile run. They were also used for spraying. | |||

When I was about 16, there was a small airshow just outside my hometown. My Dad arranged for me to go up in an old Stearman biplane with a retired navy pilot who really wrung her out -- barrel rolls, loops, split-esses, snap rolls, immelmanns, spins, hammerheads, and whatever else he could think of. TJ Great Fleet of planes! Your pictures bring up something I have always wondered about - hauling my hound in the back seat of my Citabria. I have never tried it. How has that worked out for you? Does altitude bother them? Any dog - in - plane stories for us? Another question: In the picture of your "beater" cub - where did you put those antlers? ALLEN W. Ol Dawg in the back seat is not a problem. Notice I put a leash on him just in case he decides to jump in the front! He hates to fly. He's the only Lab I've ever seen that didn't like to fly. I think the engine noise hurts his ears. Altitude doesn't seem to bother him. The gun boot is handy and you don't scar your gun up stuffing it inside. | |||

surestrike, Nice 180. Love 'em. Got a lot of jumps out of them, flew a lot of jumpers in them and spent a lot of airtime in them just boring holes. One of my several favorites. The Citabrias and Super Cubs are up there, too. Flew PA 18's a lot when I was a kid in the Army, as well as J-3's and Cessna 140's. Can't pick a favorite. They're all dear to my ageing heart. On second thought, the Beech 18...the great Twin Beech. (taildragger, of course). That's my favorite ride. | |||

My favorite is the Bell 47G3, there is one parked over on Merrill Field that I flew for a while out in McCarthy some years back. Then there is the Bell 206's as for airplanes, I like the PA-32's and the Piper Aztec. Funny thing is that most of the airplanes that I few were old when I flew them, Been flying 32 years now, And I only flown one airplane that hand less than 100 hours on it when I got to fly it, a brand new 1986 Cessna 208 B . Come to think of it, its an old airplane now. Last Bell 206 I flown had 27600 hours on the airframe. One of PHI's old B-3's also the only helicopter I ever flew that had a vacume pump for the fight instruments. Most all Helicopter flight insruments are electric in that regard. Start switch on the cyclic too. | |||
