Looks to me like the pilot misjudged his planned brush-by. It's not like that was a stealth boat he hit.

Just a observation from a non rated observer, but was he going for a thriller brush by, or avoiding conditions (air and water)created by the first plane or a combination of the two.

Not knowing what was down the takeoff flight path it seemed like both planes were way off to the left side of the river on their takeoff path
