On this date in 1947 Chuck Yager broke the sound barrier in level flight (actually a shallow climb) All previous excursions past the sound barrier had been in dives. October 14th, 1947 My question is why we don't have a forum PIC of Chuck or his Bell X-1 today? If I provoke you into thinking then I've done my good deed for the day!
