Check this website out: http://www.bransonairshow.com/ If you are reasonably close to Branson you might want to consider the first annual Branson, Missouri Air show which is going to be the grand opening for the first privately financed ($155 million) commercial airport in the United States. It will be May 8 - 10th. The 8th is a Friday night show and the 9th is a Saturday day show. Sundays schedule looks like a repeat of Saturday. The show will include the USAF Thunderbirds, US Army Golden Knights, Aeroshell Aerobatic team, Patty Wagstaff, John Klatt, Iron Eagles, John Mohr (Stearman), Matt Younkin, Stuart Dawson (Sea Fury), Gregg Kotz, Gene Soucy, Kyle Franklin, Steve and Susan Oliver, Rob Holland, Manford Radius and more. There will be static displays of some old warbirds such as B-17, B-25, P-51, P-47, F-18, C-17, C-130J, AC-47, F-15, C-47, PT-17, PT-19, HE-1, L-19, T-6A, C-45, T-1A, C-45, T-38, L-39, LT-6 etc. Tickets are available online at the web address above. Saturday gates open at 8:00 am and the cermony opens at 10:30 am. I have absolutely nothing to do with the show or the airport but it looks like a good one and I thought some of you would like to know. If you fly in, you can come to the Taney County airport (PLK) or the Harrison, Arkansas airport (HRO). The new airport where the show is will be closed to fly-ins. ALLEN W. As I sit in my office there is a constant roar of airplanes coming over for the super airshow this weekend. It sounds almost like an invasion. Some are obviously round motors, some are military helicopters and then there are the aerobatic performers with their high pitched sound. I see the Thunderbirds out on the horizon practicing their routine. Interspersed with that are general aviation planes coming in to our general aviation airport. The airport manager told me this morning that they are expecting to have to turn away planes because of ramp space limitations. The local paper estimates upwards of 25,000 people will attend -some even coming in from foreign countries. Can you tell that I am excited? Hope it does not get rained out. ALLEN W.
