It is sad to post this one. I took this one in Austin, Texas approximately 8:00 PM Nov. 24, 1981. as the shuttle was landing at Bergstrom AFB. It was returning from Edwards AFB to Florida and stopped to gas up and spend the night. The 747 was NASA 905 and was landing from south to north parallel to US Highway 183. I sat the camera on top of a fence post and tried to match the pan rate to the landing. I snapped the shutter as it passed the hangar lights in the back ground so it would be back lit. I don't remember but it was probably Kodak 400 print film with a Minolta 1.4 58MM normal lens. I think the shutter speed was about 1/4 second. Bergstrom is now the Austin airport and I have made more than a few takes offs on the same runway. This is the world debut of this photo in electronic format. | ||
