[[SOURCE:Air Transport Intelligence news]] ILA: Emirates orders 32 more Airbus A380s By David Kaminski-Morrow Middle Eastern carrier Emirates has ordered another 32 Airbus A380s, the single biggest deal for the type. The Dubai-based carrier confirmed the agreement at the ILA Berlin Air Show today. Airbus says the orders are firm, and take its overall A380 customer total to 234 jets. Emirates' current A380 fleet is fitted with Engine Alliance GP7200 powerplants. Its decision brings to 90 the number of A380s it has on order, by far the highest commitment by a single customer. Airbus chief Tom Enders says the agreement was reached "less than 24 hours ago". The deal is worth $11.5 billion at list prices. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Saeed, you gonna get to fly one of these?????? Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!! 'TrapperP'

Looks like some major airlines had better be looking over their shoulders.

I have flown Emirates several times. Have to say they're a class act. Also impressed with Malaysia, JAL and Cathay Pacific. Most US carriers could take a few lessons from these folks. **************** NRA Life Benefactor Member

Most US carriers have lost their way, they forgot who the customer is and what he represents...their future! I used to fly anything over 500 miles. Now I drive up to 1000 miles. Airports and airlines suck! Jim

I pretty much quit flying passenger lines 25yrs ago. Unless my business can be handled in one day, I drive and combine/pursue other targets of interest along the way. Since I play around some with flintknapping and Indian relic hunting, it's fairly easy for me to find real good reasons to drive. ... and I've never delivered my bags to Houston when I drove to Corpus.

One reason I retired early was the commutes on domestic carriers, and that was '98. i've only flown a few times since, almost exclusively to Africa and Canada. Air Canada was pretty good, but I'll drive anywhere I have to go from now on out. The airlines have a captive customer base. Many are treated like captives.
