Once again. Sad loss. Again, no Boeing, no going.

They've found a survivor which is astounding and also the black boxes.

Press here are reporting the AC was banned from French airspace and reported to be in very bad condition etc.

The Times and Telegraph are also talking about a possible grounding for type(s)

Time will tell...... I hope.

Political expediency at work again!

There are a lot of aircraft that are banned from frlying into a lot of countries wordwide.

Sadly, a lot of these countries do not share banned lists.

Also, Aerbus is dragging their feet about changing some sensors, and I hope this will put enough pressure on them to get their act together.

Being a pilot, I am not too impressed with this "fly-by-wire" for everything. The pilot must have ultimate control when things go south.

Apparently this is the case, but a lot of pilots have been taught to rely on their instruments.

So if the instrument is giving him the wrong incations, he cannot do much to save the situation.

Lst thing is to bear in mind that certain airlines should be avoided, no matter what.

I have changed my flights in the past because I had no wish to fly on certain airlines on some routes.

I read your post and I can only shake my head in amazement that such is not the universally accepted standard. The A310 that was lost in the Comoros had been banned from flights into France, maybe all EU countries [?] since 2007. Witness the two incidents with the A330's of AF and the one of DL ne NWA. I am certainly not passing judgement on the efforts of any pilot but your statement: "Apparently this is the case, but a lot of pilots have been taught to rely on their instruments" is dead on. The news media reported that the NW pilot "Took commnand of the A/C and hand flew it until out of the storm." Once again, game, set, match go to the guy in the left seat for knowing what to do, for knowing when and how to do it.
And once again, 'if it ain't Boeing, I ain't going!'

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!
