and I thought I share this with yall, this is an e-mail a friend sent to me.

Hi Matthew: Thought you might want to make a model of this type aircraft, I believe it carried 16 or 17 fully armed troops.
When I look at this photo I wonder what happened to the fellows that were inside at least they made a safe landing. While it does not have the glamour that a P-51 or A-26 they have their place of honor in history just the same. The morning of June 6,1944 the sky was full of C-47's towing these gliders to France and then shortly those C-47 after cutting loose would be seen coming back to England lot of them would have the one engine and some on fire, a sight that has been
imprinted in my mind forever. Have a nice day Matthew.>>>>>>>>>>>>>Bob

I just watched a video about the Gliders in WW11 my employer loaned me. His dad flew them in the war. The video was very interesting to say the least!! Thank god for helicopters!!!!

Anyone care to guess how much Uncle Sam was paying for each glider? (it was in the video)

Those glider guys had brass balls. They took a lot of casualties on D Day.

Saw a presntation years ago and Bob Johnston [SP?] an old P47 driver said the same thing. Then he said they would pattern their attacks so they could "come in low, strafe and find a hedge row 'or something' low to 'hop over' so they could not get a good lead angle on us as we flew out." Sounds like some pretty hairy lying to me, and I am glad I was not sitting in their seat!

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

Probably Robert Johnson..he wrote the book "Thunderbolt" about his WW2 P47 flying. If I remember correctly he ended up second or third on the all time USA "Kill" list with 20+ German aircraft shot down. On top of all that, according to his book, he never qualified in aerial gunnery! Read it if you get the chance.

I sincerely hope no one read that to be "lying' as I fully intended for it to be "Flying!" Never would I accuse these guys of lying about their exploits - I read something once by a crew chief asking 'his' pilot to please not fly so low as he was tired of digging branches and tree limbs out of the cowlings!
