From a video camera in the front office: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j_DVM1gb7k

Question: Why so much yaw input from the captain just after the plane leaves the ground? He's turning the yoke back and forth like a small kid in one of them kiddie cars that has all four wheels on casters...

Her's one of a landing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFTMTpaX9H4&NR=1

66 seconds of good stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...D1EQ&feature=related

I am amazed at how little headroom there is in the cockpit of these jets. It looks like a man could stand up too quick and knock his noggin on the overhead...

Kewl! I got to sit behind the guy on the left on a Panam 747 in 1990 from New York to Rome to Saudi Arabia! What a thrill! I think I had less than 40 hours in a 152 at the time! We were the first troops to land in the middle east in 91! Just a few mins after midnight Jan 1,91!

HB,

Welcome to the jungle baby! Those are pretty normal control inputs. That is what it takes to keep Jumbo or any jet for that matter on the straight and level with a bit of chop. You as a passenger in the back would hardly feel those inputs as they are small and precise. There is most likely a bit of chop on departure. By the way those are roll inputs not yaw, yaw would be with the rudder pedals. Wink

The 747 has a huge cockpit with tons of head room you should see a 737.

Yep, the 747 office has plenty of room. Very comfortable airplane.

I used to fly in and out of Kai Tak. Lotta guys had trouble with that approach, for some reason, but a lot of bush flying in the Herc helped me out. Visualization is what it was all about. Where are ya now and where ya gonna be in twenty seconds...

I pop in here on the aviation forum, find a YouTube aircraft link, and next thing I know, an hour has passed ...
