I never had the opportunity to fly into the old Kat Tak Airport. But the guys who did say it was always sporty. Here is a great video showing what daily arrivals had to deal with at the old Kai Tak airport.

Looks like one of those Carribean island approaches. In this case you've got high buildings to deal with. Not for the faint-hearted. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed the musical score too.

SAN is like that only smaller. Approach is over a hill with midrise buildings on it and departure is over a hill with houses. Terminals on yer port side and parking lots on yer stbd. Like landing in a pig trough.

The big multi story parking garage right off the arrival end of RWY 27 is the one that always gets my attention in SAN. One of my best divert stories comes out of SAN on a dark and stormy night...
