The advent of the relatively cheap video cameras and the internet has provided many hours of great entertainment.

And many more that can NOT be shown in "public".

http://www.kiddierecords.com/2...yliner-Flight-35.mp3

It is about 6 1/2 minutes long.

Hehehehe... reminds of a record I had as a kid of John Glenn's orbits in Friendship 7... except that it was perhaps a little more authentic...

Gotta 'fess up... I'm a 'frustrated' aviator... couple of uncles were GA pilots, my godfather was a Spitfire pilot in the Battle of Britain, and later flew Spit Mk IV's on recce missions over Greece and Yugoslavia in WWII, he was awarded the DFC in both theatres (sadly, he passed away about a month ago) my cousin is a pilot for Virgin and recently sold his DC-3 (originally a C 47) and when I finished school back in 1970, I was invited by QANTAS to undertake pilot training - Dad needed me to help run the family business, so against my better judgement I declined their offer... after the business collapsed, I was on the verge of joining our fleet air arm when a change of Government policy abolished fixed wing aircraft at sea... and I'm not not real keen on helo's.

Lesson learned - follow your heart... a lesson I have instilled in my young fella who is determined to join our Airforce as a pilot..

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Must admit that after being in the DC3 my thoughts turned to what it must have been like for those incredibly brave souls who flew the aircraft of that vintage in less favourable times and skies.

No doubt we've all seen many 'gun footage' videos, but when you're actually in an airplane of the time and realise that there ain't much between you and the outside world other than a few thousand rivets and a thin skin of aluminium, it gives a different perspective.

My apologies for rambling, but by crikey, the blokes who did what they had to do have my enduring respect.
