Any of you have experience with this plane. For me it would be ideal if I could afford one. I have no need for distance flights, and fly alone.
And living at 6500+ feet in the summer that extra 50 hp would be a big plus.

I think a 150/150 would be a good choice for a fly alone pilot. I flew a 100 hp 150 from a 6950 ft. elev. field (Truckee-Tahoe)for years. Very marginal in summer. A transient in a 150/150 convinced me that what was needed for a fun hunting and fishing airplane but could not find one. Converting mine to a 150 hp was out of my price range, so I did the standard upgrade to a 172, then a 206. Looking back, the 150 /150 would have been all I would have needed, even now. I now fly a 170 with no back seat so I can carry camping gear.

Keep us posted on the project!

I never flew one in higher elevations. We used a Texas Taildragger conversion to tow banners. It had a lot of performance over a standard C-150. It was later converted back to tricycle landing gear due to insurance requirements.

Around 31 years ago I took instrument training with ATE at Chicago's Midway airport. Some older executive looking type in the washroom asked me what I thought of the 152's they were using for instruction. I said they were a tight fit with two people but would make a good single place aircraft. I sensed he didn't care for the answer as indicated by the lack of a return comment. May have been a Cessna exec for all I know.

However the state of Illinois did have an Aerobat with a STOL kit. I saw one take off from runway 90 at Lansing airport (southeast of Midway) and casually noted it going down the runway. Then I was looking at the top of a Cessna with the characteristic Aerobat skylights. There are certain things any aircraft can do if configured properly.

I had a Texas Taildragger built on an Aerobat with a Horton STOL kit years ago.

It was the first 150 I ever enjoyed flying.

It should do OK at 6500 if you don't fill it to the gills Eeker

I used to instruct in one out of Sedona and Flagstaff for a couple years and the 150hp made a world of difference at those altitudes during the summer.

My first airplane was a 150 with a full IFR panal for insterment instruction.
For some reason I always liked that plane but of course it had to go to make room for my Supercub.
Some day I'll buy a dedicated floatplane and a high horsepower 150 would be lots of fun but when the time comes I'll probably bow down to practicality and buy something with a little more room.
