B25 VS Empire State Building question

While browsing around, I came across this write up of the B25 that hit the Empire State building back in 1945:

One question I have never had answered is how was the plane recovered? I think the fuselage was stuck in the outside of the building, but it was a while ago so I don't exactly remember.

Does anyone know what was recovered and what parts fell to the ground? Am I mistaken and the entire fuselage went inside the building?

I know one engine went through the building and exited the other side and landed on top of an adjacent building.

I can't remember as I was only three years old at the time !! I'm sure it was a big event there where I lived.
