Have to wonder about the Nazi pilots bringing their birds in on American-controlled runways. Maybe they radioed their intentions? Opened the cockpits and threw arms up?

Bobster, your observation is correct, I believe. Unlike most forms of ground combat, aerial combat involves flying, and flying calls for a higher level of skill and to excel -- passion.
