Pelosi's 757
A retired Pan Am, ex Delta pilot,
who is supplementing his meager "D"elta retirement at the age of 70+ as a simulator instructor in South Florida. He does recurrent training for the Air Force pilots that have to fly Pelosi's Jet, (see below), he told me last week, that the last Pelosi Pilots he had in the Sim told him that they now have to "Salute" her..

Pelosi's Jet

This Jet is the USAF C-32, Boeing 757, that MADAME PELOSI uses.

Madame Pelosi wasn't happy with the small jet USAF C-20B, Gulfstream III, that comes with the Speaker's job...no, Madame Pelosi was aggravated that this little jet had to stop to refuel, so she ordered a Big Fat 200-seat USAF C-32, Boeing 757 jet that could get her back to California without stopping!

Many, many legislators walked by and grinned with glee as Joe informed everyone that Nancy's Big Fat Jet costs us, the hard working American tax payers, thousands of gallons of fuel every week.

Since she only works 3 days a week, this gas guzzling jet gets fueled and she flies home to California , cost to the taxpayers of about $60,000, one way! As Joe put it, 'Unfortunately we have to pay to bring her back on Monday night.' Cost to us another $60,000.

Folks, that is $480,000 per month and that is an annual cost to the taxpayers of $5,760,000.
No wonder she complains about the cost of this war...it might cramp her style and she is styling, on my back and yours. I think of the military families in this country doing without and this woman, who heads up the most do-nothing Congress in the history of this country keeps fueling that jet while doing nothing.

Madame Pelosi wants you and me to conserve our carbon footprint. She wants us to buy smaller cars and Obama wants us to get a bicycle pump and air up our tires.

Keep in mind the figures above do NOT include
cost of plane or crew, just fuel! One wonders what her total package cost us? And she wants to tax our IRA's & 401 K's!

Cool airplane. Unlike some, I don't have any problem with The Speaker of The House having such access. It's not a bad thing for the country. But, Air Force pilots "have" to salute her? If this is true, it's utter bullshit.

While The Speaker of the House may be third in line to the presidency, The Speaker is not in the military chain of command. The Speaker of the House does not merit a salute from active duty military. I could be wrong---but I doubt it. If I am, I'll admit it.

how can anyone with half a brain think this is not a bad thing for the country? i would much rather a bunch of guys on a GIII salute her than pay for this abortion. a salute is free. this thing isn't!!

No, for some odd reason she looks at this airplane as a Marshall's Baton. A G-III or a G-IV or G-V is plenty airplane, to haul her butt around. Its not about transport its about her having an almost Airforce One for herself when W was President and they when along and gave it to her. Hell a Lear 60 or even a Lear 45 or a Citation 10 is more than enough to go from DC to where ever the hell she lives.

Why does she need this "access" at such a high cost to the taxpayer?

She can fly commercial first class back and forth on multiple airlines and it would take her 3 - 4 hours more per week. With the saved money she could hire ($60,000 * 45 weeks/year (she can't fly EVERY week?!?) = $2,700,000. $250,000/yr for high priced liberal staffer = 10.8 liberal staffers) almost 11, 11!!, more liberal minions to do her dirty work.

The highly trained pilots and maintenance personnel might be able to do humanitarian duties or kill bad guys or look for IEDs.

If you fly back and forth from the West to DC very often you'll see plenty of senators and congresspeople in first class every week. She has more duties as Speaker of the House for sure, but she also has more money.

Why can't she fly first class in a commercial non-stop?

Much of what Snope's reports as True or False is questionable, such as the posted bit of "She only used the C32 as Air Force 3 once." This is absolutely not correct.
You can read for yourself the details re the request - from Pelosi and seconded by Murtha et al - for "A bigger plane" - and please explain to me why she should be able to fly family and friends on an AF Jet? "Mrs. Pelosi wants a larger aircraft that can fly to her home district of San Francisco nonstop. She also wants to be able to ferry other members of the congressional delegation, family members and her staff." How much is enough for this woman?

Well seeing that we used to train the crews who fly her in that 757 (yes airforce one as well) and hear the personal stories about Mrs. Pelosi and her instance on being saluted when ever she boards her 757. Yeah you read that right she has requested to be saluted upon entering and exiting the aircraft. I'd say that she's flown in it more than once!
