When on has no acceptable emergency landing spots, then I had always been told that as you run out of speed, to think and trade altitude to gain back speed . . .

THEN

as you run out of altitude,

Think . . . AND

use almost no remaining speed to attempt to gain altitude

AND if you thought it through and did it all right then you would stall and come down onto the treetops with the least forward speed.

Sometimes one can use the old ring-around the tree top and crushable landing gear will absorb some of those ugly G forces.
Would be interesting to hear the real story

Oops, I forgot the link, THX OPUS1

Just goes to show that any landing you can walk away from is a good one! Big Grin

It wasn't going to end well without the open embrace of that tree. But I am betting some of those panels will require a little more than a simple wax and buff to straighten out.
