Has anyone flown with the Jabiru line of engines, especially the 2200? From my research, they are light, powerful, simple and compact. I only wish they had electronic fuel injection and a computer controlled engine management unit. I've heard you can put an ellison throttle body on one and go EFI that way. Any thoughts on EFI on an experimental airplane engine? Not as simple as a carb, but better at altitude for sure. Thanks, Jordan

No experience with a Jabiru engine yet, as for EFI I'd say it is dependent on what the application is. EFI is a better system if you don't take cost or complexity into account. However, if you consider those factors it can change things. To give you my 2 cents, as an example I can say that other than some sort of auto engine conversion where EFI is standard, I would not even consider EFI on something that cruises less than 150 mph. for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

Jordan, What experimental are you thinking of putting this engine on? I have heard very good comments on the Jabiru and the only con I have heard is that cooling can be an issue. I talked to Legend Aircraft while at Oshkosh and my questions were geared towards their use of the Jabiru. They relayed that the DID have problems trying to keep it cool. But they also said that where I live (MN) that I shouldn't have problem. Several other people I talked to also said the same thing.

WWhunter: Thanks for the information. The airplane it will go in is a Silence-Twister. (You can find that on the internet.) It is a composite, single seater with about 150 mph cruise. Jordan
