Attended today. Took nearly 400 photographs. Will be putting them up on photobucket as time allows. Got to put my camera into the cockpit of a restored and flying P-51 and take photos. Saw two each F-22s. Too much more to list at this time...

Was there last year and was eye witness, front row center for the czech jet crash. Humbling to say the least. Not to be morbid, but was ther any crashes this year? Jim Kobe 10841 Oxborough Ave So Bloomington MN 55437 952.884.6031 Professional member American Custom Gunmakers Guild

I took a picture of it, but not at speed. It was being towed to its pits...

Strega takes it... D. says a long time coming..felt like he worked four days straight..doesn't know if he can do it again.. "that's why we gotta get that kid over here". Dago Red second. September Fury third. Nemesis NXT takes Super Sport Gold at 380+ race avg. That's typical speed for a stock p-51D. RG

Rare Bear blew the engine while in fourth place. Got down OK. Ship covered in oil. The commentator mentioned that they were running 155 inches of boost and nitrous. That might explain it... RG

Yeah, you might figger. 155"? Cylenders on that thing must be crafted from titanium.

I guess they wern't good enough-one of the firefighters said a coupe of jugs weren't where they were supposed to be. Feel for the wrenches. RG

Expensive parts for sure... When I'm old and retired (sooner than later) I'd like to collect and rebuild some of these old engines. Of particular interest are the old Jumo inverted V's...not too many left running.

Was gonna go to Chino this weekend but no one wanted to ride with me so I blew it off. F100D-63141 is there and there may be some family association with that one.

When we celibrated out 25th anniversary in 1979, Rolls Royce brought a mobile display and set it up for the duration, as we were the largest operator of the RR powered L-1011. I spoke at length with one of the old timers with the displays and remarked on their displays which included a Merlin and an Eagle as well as a 24 cylinder 'H' pattern engine; I can't recall what it was called. I made some remark about 'static displays' and he hastened to assure me that a 'couple of hours and these engines can be purring like kitties!', telling me all of them were complete and completely functional. No one will ever know how much I would have loved to have seen them run up. The sound alone would have been a rare treat! Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!! They looked like this: Fondly call 'Buff' - and I miss them, especially all those seats! Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!! 'TrapperP'

Howdy Homebrewer- Been trying to find pics of the event on the 'net and finding slim pickins. I'm getting the idea that many of the photogs want to sell their pics to various mags and calendar publishers. Found a few of the three element formation flight of F7F Tigercats- but just a few. Damn! I wish I could have been there for that. Anyhoo, I got a gal here who's turning blue waiting for pics which I'm afraid are not going to appear. Was hoping you could post some of yours. All the best, RG
