Wow... That is just a single beer. They didn't "drag" a drunk guy anywhere. They asked a perfectly sober guy to follow them down the rabbit hole of a ruined career.

That headline is ridiculous. No way he was drunk.

But he should have gone to bed earlier.

Booze has always been a problem in aviation. It's just never spoken of. The FAA will jerk your physical in a New York second if you even get arrested for DUI. Not convicted. Arrested. And It takes a lot of work to get it back.

They take that stuff seriously.

Oh yeah, they'll take alcohol seriously but they sure turn a blind eye to pilot fatigue.

Darn near every study on fatigue winds up comparing it to BAC. The FAA says they have "Zero Tolerance" for alcohol impairment but sure turn a blind eye to tired crews. Especially since most of the regional commuter trip schedules will have flights in both morning and night so the flight crew is going to have one flight at night and one flight in the early morning so fatigue is bound to happen whether you are a morning or a night person.


for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside
