We lost Bob Hoover today. Lots of stories on Face
Book under his name. Met him at an airshow in Atlanta in 1977/ Got his picture holding our 1 yr old daughter. Sad day in aviation.
RIP sir.

I saw him I believe at a Ft. Bragg (Fayetteville) air show many years ago in the Shrike Commander. I was amazed at his precise piloting and it inspired me to get my private ticket.

Many of us recall his Commander air show demonstrations. Amazing pilot and showman. Wishing him blue skies forever.

Here is a great post from EAA-
http://www.eaa.org/en/eaa/eaa-...8xa1NTM1pJWEU9In0%3D

I just received this from EAA... a sad day for all pilots..... the Greatest Pilot in recent decades/century has joined the Angels...last week!! GREAT tribute to Bob Hoover....pictures, videos, etc.....

The personally autographed poster, I received last year, on release of his video "Flying the Feathered Edge" is now an heirloom.....and really a great show!!

What a GENTLEMAN...and what a PILOT.... truly an aviation great!! I am honored/humbled to have shaken his hand several times over the years at various air shows....and truly admired his flying MANY, MANY times!!......Mustang, SHRIKE Commander, Sabreliner, F-86.....never saw his F-100 show!!....I guess he burned the asphalt with the afterburner on those demonstrations ....of that Widow Maker!!

Cheers,

Great man.

Met him through Duane and Judy Cole, always had time for a young pilot.

Saw his Commander routine at the airshows in Medford, OR. A great American and a wonderful pilot.
