Just got surplussed off the 777. I start Airbus school three days after I get back from Zim.

Hopefully I'll catch malaria and be able to take the summer off on a medical.

Oh the joy! Roll Eyes

I don't mind the air buss all that much, but commuting to reserve in LAX. I have a problem with THAT! Mad

People who don't do this stuff simply have NO IDEA what commuting to reserve or flying junior all nighter lines is like. That shit flat wears a guy out.

I truly empathize. I commuted all over the planet and I have much, much more night instrument time than I do day instrument time. Don't know exactly how much because I lost some logbooks in hurricane Andrew when my house got trashed and don't really know. I hate night freight! Order of the Sleepless Nights, and all that. Wore me out. That's why I quit before 60.

Jet,

Night freight sucks. I've done to much of it and I haven't done a 10th of what you have.

There is no worse feeling in the world than having flown three legs into the sort and then sitting for two hours knowing that you are going to be three legs out starting at 03:00.

Sometimes I think I'd rather be a full time prison bitch than continue with this career! Wink

I have been flying redeyes on the 777 for almost 5 years now and I am about ready to throw the towel in. I am going to fly 757 domestic at the first oppurtunity, probably take at least 2 years off.
I have found that exercise is the key to keeping the body clock wound. a 3 mile jog when I hit the ground is SOP.

Yeah, but a 3 mile jog around Nairobi or Joburg can get you killed.

We had a capt who went for a run in NBO over by the stadium. Couple hours later, he walked into the lobby of the Intercon in his underwear. They stole everything he had, including his socks.

It never quite got that bad, but it was close. After all the adventure surrounding the Hercs, the 747 was drudgery. Double crew out of Joburg to Harare to Lagos to Vitoria Spain or AMS. Brutal. You can jerk beef in a 747. Totally dehydrates you.
