The solar powered plane in the process of flying around the world landed in the Phoenix area tonight. I went with two friends to watch it land. It's lights could be see 30+ miles out. It passed directly over us at about 1000 feet. It is really slow, almost appearing stopped at times, we had noise from cars but seemed totally silent.
I estimate over 100 cars were park watching, good that many people were interested enough to go out of their way to be there.

Very cool aircraft. The two pilots are beyond brave.

Glad you got to see it Mark. I would have loved to see it! Pretty amazing technology.

I am glad I got off my butt and went. I knew about the project but had not given it much thought, but actually seeing it makes a big impression. Watching it going so slow the Hawaii to San Fran is in the Lindbergh category
I bet in our lives we will never see another solar plane do a around the world flight.

You may want to remember that within a man's lifespan, we went from the Wright's flyer to Concorde, with a quick run to the moon................. Cool
