I figured this pot needed a little stirring. A Washington State fish cop (nice guy) used to attend some of our TU meetings, years ago. He told about one day checking licenses, etc. on the Skagit R., a popular steelhead stream north of Seattle. Lots of bank fishing. He checked one guy who had an outstanding warrant, and he created quite a stir when he cuffed the guy and hauled him off. Want some more? My wife used to be a King County (Seattle) Senior Deputy Attorney General. The ring tone on her phone: "I fought the law and the law won."

Texas Parks & Wildlife Dept. on a monthly basis sends out news bulletins on some of the more interesting cases or situations Game Wardens have been involved in, and it is amazing how many times the GW's arrest people with outstanding warrants for all sorts of crimes. Even the rocks don't last forever.

A part time warden sheriffs deputy was watching a local creek during the walleye spawn for violators looking to spear walleyes. He hears this splashing coming from the creek just below a 4 foot bank. So he quietly puts the sneak on the suspected walleye poachers. He gets right above the sound at most 8 to 10 feet away. As he stands up he's yelling warden and shining his flash light. As he lights the area there stands a 350lb plus black bear looking right at him. The bear grunts he yells and they both leave in opposite directions. He told me alter I thought I sh!t my pants, we all had a good laugh over that.
