I put off one of these and now regret it. Never liked the offerings in the wheel guns until Ruger made the SA. I have looked around some with no results. Figured one of you rifle looneys had an extra, lol. I won’t sell a kidney at this point for one but would entertain reasonable priced ones. Maybe Ruger will do the 480 up on a Marlin? They didn’t think the Blackhawk would go and now it’s a catalogue item.

Good luck, sir. Keep an eye on Gunbroker/GunsInternational of course. I am afraid that being a Ruger catalog item has very little relationship with reality, though I sorely wish it did. There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t. – John Green, author

Are you looking for a rifle or handgun? I have a Rossi 92 in .480, I see those advertised often. I have some good loads if you end up with one like mine.

Now I want one! I was looking for a Ruger Gunsite .450 BM, but didn’t jump on them until the prices doubled. If I find one, you’ve got first dibs, but let me know if you pass. I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills. Marcus Cady DRSS

Don't look for a 480 Ruger in a Marlin. The Ruger runs at 48,000 psi. The Marlin 1894 is rated for 36,000 psi (44 magnum) and the 336 is rated for a maximum of 40,000. The Puma is a copy of the Winchester 92 which is much stronger.

Dunno where your info comes from, the 336 was chambered in 375 Winchester@52000. The Marlin is way stronger than most believe. I have seen and shot them in 307 and 356 Winchester.

Information came from posting from Marlinowners forum where a retired Marlin engineer gave his opinion on 1894's and 336's. The 307, 356,375,450 marlin, 308 me and 338 me were manufactured differently in that the threads from barrel to reciever (normal v threads, high pressure square threads) were cut differently to give more surface area and a higher maximum pressure rating. That is why they could take higher pressure. The standard 336 or 1894 would not last long with a 480 Ruger in my opinion. Those special manufacturing items will never be incorporated by Ruger as they are not interested in the "specialty" chamberings. The customers will be lucky to see 444 marlins and 35 remingtons put in production. I believe Paco Kelly did an 1894 marlin in 454 casull and it lasted 8 shots before the action stretched.
