Yes, a good working rifle, for sure. I think he wants a bit more "bling" :-)

My friends WR is no longer available... owner is keeping it!! Interesting story!!
Richard had purchased this great Westley Richards bolt 458WM nicely embellished with elephant and buffalo gold inlays... one of 2 identical rifles according to MD Trigger at WR. Very unusual to have a pair of identical embellished bolt guns in a Dangerous Game caliber!! Any thoughts on WHY??

Well by n by Richard found a more useable 375 H&H bolt gun... nicely embellished... he bought it... then put the 458 up for sale at WR AGENCY with LD in Florida.

Well, come to find out, the 375 is also one of a pair, the same client that built the 2 458s!! When he found out he had one each of the 2 built for the same client, he pulled the 458 off the market and it joins its 375 mate... a very nice pair with interesting history!!
If these old rifles could tell stories.... go figure!!

I have an FN 98 .458 WM with great wood and other ‘bling.’ That being the jeweled bolt, magazine follower, stippled rib. Only one standing rear fixed sight and gold bead front. It appears to be late 70s-80s work. However, it has a howitzer type break. I don’t know if it’s welded on or not.

If interested, I can send you pictures.

Edited to add it’s the slide forward safety to the right of the rear of the action like many Sako rifles.

I meant to be DSC Member...bad typing skills.

CheerZ,

A lot of those old rifles stories would be “Sure is dark in here…”

Ha!!!!

I’d love to see those 458s…neat.

I spotted a nice post-64 Model 70 Super Grade in 458WM at Cabelas Gun Library, Lacey, WA yesterday. I recall $799. Not real fancy wood, recoil stud thru bolt, and "SUPER GRADE" on the floor plate.

At that price, must have been a push-feed. Most African hunters don't hold them in very high regard.

Been quiet lately...I think it's a struggle between a double and a magazine rifle.
