Having built rifles on a fair number of original Winchester M1885s, I would suggest a brand new action from MVA. Workmanship is equal to or, perhaps better, than original actions. Also the MVA action requires no gunsmithing, something that cannot be said for most 100-120 year old rifles. No, a new MVA ain't cheap, but neither is an original action in half-way comparable shape.

I have an original Low Wall, so called flat side action I'm considering selling. I has already been hand polished and I would not be giving that considerable work away. I thought Roger might be interested? Now that MVA is offering such a fine High Wall action these Flat Side Low Walls are considerable more difficult to obtain. It is not this action but a straight grip like this without a barrel. Complete with all parts, mainspring and seat. PM if interested~~
