Are your 77's both push feed? I don't think they made them with CRF.

Tang safety Rugers are all claw extractor, push feed. Rounds are indeed controlled when feeding. I've owned at least ten of them; no issues noted so far.

Thanks for clearing that up. Thought so. But, it looked like a long 98 extractor in the pictures.

Found several guys that like the 77's because of the safety and the adjustable triggers. The Mark II's trigger is non-adjustable. Right dpcd?

Tom,
Is your 77 Zytel stocked rifle factory? Or did you fit a tang safety action into a later Zytel stock?

All Ruger 77s have the long Mauser type extractor. Just that the 77 does not snap over the rim until you close the bolt. Yes some like the tang safety, some don't.
You can't drop in a 77 into a MK2 stock; the bottom metal is not the same.
Right, the 77 trigger is adjustable; the MK2 is not which is why they sell different springs and aftermarket triggers for them.
I do like the side swing safety better for no good reason.

Well, I learned something new today about Ruger's Model 77 push feed bolts. They are Ruger's own unique style (I think). I had no idea they were NOT a conventional push feed style like a Rem 700 or a pusher Winchester 70, etc. This post from AH says it all for those who were in the dark like this author. Wow!

Me too pdog. Back in the early 2000's I saw one at Kmart in '06 that felt like I was holding a .22rf. Ended up in another direction for a rifle. Then it got me hooked again over the last few years. Do I need one? No. Just want one.

I have owned many 77s, the first one a dog leg bolt handle, first year, 308. Shot many hundreds of 7.62 Nato rounds out of it; ball and tracer; took it to the MG range. That is when I also fired many 7.62s, both ball and tracer, from 7.62 argentines. Worked fine.
Nothing wrong with the Ruger 77.

No but most guys freak out when I tell them I fired 308 ammo out of 30-06s and 7.65 Argentine rifles.
On the 30-06, you get a straight case. On the 7.65, you get a case with a very short neck.
So much for excess headspace.
